Post Treatment Care
After crown lengthening, it is normal to experience pain, bleeding, swelling, and seeping. Avoid touching the area with your fingers or tongue, and refrain from forcefully rinsing or using a straw. Applying a gauze pad to the wound for 30 minutes can help reduce bleeding. Take prescribed medications and mouth rinses as directed.
For the first week, limit oral hygiene to gentle brushing with a soft toothbrush, avoiding dental floss and strong mouth rinses. Apply a cold compress to reduce swelling, and after 36 hours, switch to moist heat. Stay hydrated, avoid spicy or acidic foods, and refrain from tobacco and alcohol. Rest and avoid strenuous activities for a few days. If a bandage is used, it will come off naturally within 24 hours, and gentle cleaning can begin with a mouth rinse and a cotton swab.
